    The Instructional Design Manager leads the instructional design team to produce high quality online courses and instructional assets delivered using advanced learning technologies according to established project timelines. This individual provides leadership in designing, developing and supporting online instruction, evaluating the effectiveness of that instruction, and planning for improvement that exploits emerging best practices and innovations.


    • Manage Instructional Designers and relationships with contractors when applicable.
    • Responsible for hiring, training, developing and evaluating assigned staff in accordance with Company guidelines.
    • Contribute to script research and development by partnering with subject matter experts to insert interactions into scripts using adult learning theory.
    • Proactively manage development projects and work as part of the project team with subject matter experts, Instructional Designers, Marketing, Sales, Operations, etc. to design and develop audience-appropriate, clear, and concise training content.
    • Manage development schedule for all curriculum development projects, including eLearning courses and updates, and communicate progress regularly to all stakeholders.
    • Continuously monitor workload and progress of the Instructional Design (ID) team and assign new course work as needed.
    • Understand and monitor the critical path on projects and work to identify and remove obstacles that could impact development timelines.
    • Research and recommend new tools to keep development current with new technology.
    • Provide or contract for any needed training for the ID team to include software tools for creating, editing, recording or building interactivity.
    • Perform quality assurance testing on all courses in development and uploaded to the Learning Management System (LMS); work with the ID team and the LMS Administrator to resolve issues.
    • Develop courses and instructional materials as needed.
    • Assist with the evaluations/selection of any third party development contractors and participate in review of projects.
    • Assist with responding to field questions and requests regarding eLearning courses and programs as needed.
    • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.


    • Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Organizational Development, Human Resources or other related major strongly preferred.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience developing and delivering blended training solutions preferred.
    • One to three (3) years of experience managing multiple training projects and development personnel preferred.
    • Strong project management, organization and time management skills.
    • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and presentation skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must have practical experience with: learning management systems (e.g. Saba, Cornerstone, Absorb), instructional technologies (e.g. Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, Audacity, etc.); social media and web 2.0 applications such as blogs and wikis; graphic production technologies (e.g. Photoshop); and general productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
