Responsibilities

The Finance & Analytics department is the central analytical engine of the Company, driving thoughtful strategic planning, financial analysis, competitive intelligence, and operational analysis.  The Senior Investment Analyst is a key member within the department’s underwriting and investment analysis team, focused on analyzing and assessing acquisition and real estate development opportunities.

 

The position’s primary focus will be a combination of (i) market research – crafting market and economic analyses; (ii) financial underwriting – modeling and supporting analyses; and (iii) executive presentation – presentations and business plans to senior management and investment partners.

 

  • Market Analysis

    • Collect data on consumers, competitors and the marketplace; and consolidate information into actionable items, reports and presentations.
    • Analyze market demand (demographics) to identify trends and opportunities.
    • Research current and prospective market supply (product, positioning and price), including competitive intelligence on rates, occupancies and construction.

     

    Underwriting

    • Develop detailed financial models to aid the prioritization of investments and project approval.
    • Assist with preparation of executive presentations and strategic business plans for prospective investments.

     

    Reporting & Presentation

    • Assist with the preparation of periodic briefings for Company management by completing tasks including, but not limited to:
      • Analyzing historical performance of completed projects.
      • Tracking in-progress projects.

Qualifications

General

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in business).  MBA preferred.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of strategic planning, market and/or financial analysis experience preferred (real estate and/or seniors housing a plus).
  • May require limited travel (10-20%) on behalf of the Company.

 

Analytical / Technical

  • Strong understanding of strategic analysis and market research.
  • Exposure to financial models, underwriting and financial analysis.
  • Ability to interpret large amounts of data and to multi-task.
  • Ability to conduct both qualitative and quantitative analysis of data.
  • Strong strategic thinking, attention to detail, creativity, and execution skills.
  • Strong reporting skills (utilizing a geospatial platform a plus).
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Communication

  • Experience presenting to senior management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
